A Masked, Caped Man
Nancy Davis
As I was walking beside my first-grade daughter, Kari, during the school's annual Halloween parade led by a CDF fire truck, a black jeep pulled up to the intersection of Kilkare Road and Main Street, coming to an abrupt halt as we approached. A masked, caped man leapt from the vehicle and began throwing candy to the scrambling, costumed children. Being new to Sunol, I looked around nervously from adult to adult, trying to gauge from their faces whether or not this scenario was acceptable. Still being unsure, I turned to the teacher beside me and asked, "Uh, does anyone know this person???"
'That person' was Stephan Doyle. Sure, I didn't know him (yet), but everyone else in town did. It wasn't long before my daughter tried out for Sign Girl with Sunol Repertory Theatre, her first encounter with Stephan and his beloved dogs, Hailey and Komet. Into our lives he came, and into our hearts he stays. Come home, Stephan.
