SUNOL — Friends, family and neighbors will remember Sunol resident Stephan Doyle at a memorial planned for Saturday.
Doyle, 47, went missing Nov. 30. His mysterious disappearance touched off a Bay Area-wide search that ended when his body was found last week in a utility room in a building near where he worked in Hayward.
A public memorial is planned for him at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Little Brown Church of Sunol, 141 Kilkare Road. A reception will be held afterward at 2 p.m. at Elliston Vineyards, 463 Kilkare Road.
Doyle was last seen about midnight on Nov. 30 at the company where he worked, a firm that makes electronic parts for NASA. The business is located at a warehouse in an industrial area of Hayward.
Doyle's car and his two dogs were found the next morning in the parking lot. During the time he was missing, he had no contact with any friends or family members and none of his credit cards were used.
His body was discovered Feb. 6 when the new owner of the warehouse building on Industrial Boulevard was touring it with a telephone company technician.
Hayward police said it appeared Doyle's body had been inside the utility room for some time, but there was no sign of foul play.
Doyle was president of Sunol's Kilkare Woods Homeowners Association, co-director of the Sunol Repertory Theater and a Sunday school teacher at the Little Brown Church.
