POSTED: 4:41 pm PST December 12, 2007
SUNOL, Calif. -- A friend of a 47-year-old man who has been missing from his unincorporated town of Sunol in AlamedaCounty for nearly two weeks said on Wednesday that he is sorely missed.
Stephan Doyle never returned home from his job in Hayward on Nov. 29, Sunol resident Virginia McCullough said.
When workers arrived at his office the door was open, Doyle's dogs were inside and his car was in the parking lot, but he was nowhere to be found, she said.
Doyle reportedly had thousands of dollars on him when he disappeared because he was planning to buy a car for his partner, according to McCullough.
Doyle failed to call his mother on her birthday, which was Monday, McCullough said.
"We all have hope, but as the days go by it gets harder," McCullough said. "He is sorely missed."
About 150 Sunol residents gathered Sunday evening to hold a candlelight vigil for Doyle, according to McCullough.
Doyle is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has blonde hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sunol Police Department at 510-293-7000.
